Killer in the Woods!

Dramatic, huh?

This morning, I drove over to Limoux to do some shopping. Today has been simply stunning; there's the feel of spring everywhere you look. And, because we've had a fair amount of rain, the mountains are beautifully covered in snow, so there's that lovely contrast that I never tire of seeing.

As I drove home, enjoying the view (but luckily still playing plenty of attention to the road) a great big deer ran out of the woods and straight across the road in front of Beanie! In the two years we've been here, this is the first time that this has happened. I was extremely glad that I was not going any faster, because if I had been, it would have been Sayonara Deer AND Beanie! I don't think I would have died, but I doubt I would have felt particularly good afterwards either.

I thought is was actually kind of strange, because normally, from what I'm given to understand, you're more likely to see deer crossing the road at night. I don't think it's hunting season anymore, so I don't suppose it was running from a hunter, but it was definitely in a major hurry. Someone should give it a ticket for speeding and reckless running.

We got to enjoy the beautiful day a bit more this afternoon, as we showed visiting Americans, Mike and Lydia and their two kidlets, Emily and Mark, around the village. We were glad that they came on a day when the weather was so spectacular. They're thinking of moving to the area, so I think they got a good feel for things.

We're all going to have dinner at the Commerce tonight, but I will be keeping my eyes wide open for any further deer incursions.

Ciao for now,

Randy
