All the prep for tonight’s dinner has been done and I’m sitting in front of a cozy fire with Shmoo at my feet and Peaches lying by the front door watching the snow fall. It really DOES feel like Christmas.

David and Jane are bringing smoked salmon and a christmas pudding made by Jane’s father. I’ve made stuffing and we’ll have that with roast capon and my creamed spinach (JM’s most requested veggie). Then Jane’s pudding and a vanilla/caramel ice cream cake.

I’m proud of myself for not going nuts and making more dishes, as I was tempted to do. There will be plenty of leftovers as is.

The snow is now starting to stick. I wonder if it means a real whit Christmas?

As the feeling of peace comes over me, I take this opportunity to wish all good little Possums and those in their kingdoms a very merry Christmas and a joyful, happy and healthy New Year.

Ciao for now.

  1. Sounds heavenly. We do the big meal on the afternoon of the 25th, not least because our guest is a musician with big church gigs Christmas Eve & morning (wire-strung Celtic harp). Preparations are pretty much in hand… my husband’s sugar cookies waiting to be frosted, the shortbread is done, my experimental-cookie-of-the-season just -went into- came out of the oven, 😎 Otherwise our menu is pretty MSM US traditional: turkey, roast potatoes, veg. of the season. Mostly very plain-cooked because of numerous food sensitivities, but I’ve gotten used to it. Good quality ingredients don’t really need a lot of fiddling-with, 😎

We don’t currently have fur-children because of no-insurance-for-allergy-shots, but we hope to be finally get my DH home to Canada this year, so maybe for next Christmas…

    Have a lovely day tomorrow!

    • Thanks, MG. We all had a wonderful time and I think it was one of the best Christmases we’ve had in many years. Mom seems to love her Wii, and I’m hoping that will get her moving a bit and away from watching TV all the time.

  2. Oh, I can just see your Mom bouncing away on her Wii. 🙂 You go, girl!

Happy new year, bonne annee, hoping 2011 is better all around for everyone.

    • Right now she’s just working at mastering bowling. I didn’t want to start her out on the bouncing around thing till I was sure she wouldn’t fall off! Still, it beats watching FAUX news all day.
