I was wondering if I could ask a favor of all my loyal readers: I entered a photo of Miz Peaches LaRoo and Shmoo Alexander in an online pet photo contest. I wrote asking when the contest ends, but haven’t heard back yet!
9Just a small note: It looks like nothing prevents you to vote more than once per day. I have done it two times today, by mistake, and nothing happened!
10I wish there was a way to know how many votes you have.
11By the way, it is also possible to vote against the others (“ugliest pet”). I did it a bit, but there are so many of them!.
12I guess that’s why I was never a success in Hollywood, Alberto. I can do positive things for me, but it goes against my nature to do something like vote AGAINST someone else!

16I voted for Peaches and Shmoo, and against a dozen or so of the other contestants at least three times a day since the beginning. Do you have any feedback on the ratings (Could it be weekly, monthly?). I wonder if a few votes have a real influence.

I found somewhere on the site that only one vote per IP address is really counted. It seems also that the contest is quarterly. The scores are not made public.

It is probably not useful that I continue voting, if only one vote is counted anyway.
I think it’s only one vote per IP address per day, Alberto, not for the whole contest. Yes, it’s frustrating that you don’t know where you stand and whether it’s doing any good or not!
I also wonder about it being a scam to sell their books, but I definitely DON’T plan on buying their book at the end, so I don’t know what that will mean. They say you don’t have to buy the book, but will that affect the results? I don’t know.
18I just received a mail that we have made it to the semi-finals and that they’ll be picking their cover photo shortly. I do NOT have to buy a book, but need to send them a letter giving them permission to publish the photo. I have to go and look and see if the voting site has changed at all.
19BUT, if they choose to select the picture of Shmoo and Peaches for their cover, or even if they put them in the book, will you be able to resist buying one? (If they publish 1500 pictures per book, they might have at least 1500 captive customers
20I’m not sure, Alberto. Perhaps if I won the 1,000 dollar award I would; but it’s awfully hard to justify spending close to $100 on a book just because I have a picture inside it in our present circumstances!
