Post Bunny Day Blues
I hope all of you had a nice Bunny Day and Post Bunny Day Monday. We are certainly all chocolated out here in the Possum Kingdom.
You can really tell when it's a holiday around here, as the streets are just bustling with people who are on vacation or who are home visiting the family. It does make you imagine what it must have been like back when the population was double what it is these days.
This morning life was was back to normal. Quieter than normal, actually, partly due to the morning drizzle and partly, I'm sure, because people were having trouble getting themselves "together" following all that weekend sleeping in. But, the sun and people are both out now and the streets seem back to normal.
I'm in a bit of a "funky" mood myself today. That's probably because friends and neighbors, David and Jane, have headed back to London after being here for a bit over two weeks. We got used to having them around and always hate it when they leave. Luckily, Hélene from Perpignan has a week's vacation and will be back with us on Wednesday, so that will cheer things right back up.
I'm also feeling sad because I found out that my mother and step dad won't be able to come to visit us later in the year as they had planned. Health issues make the long trip from California really something that would be too difficult for them to manage. I suppose I always knew that there was a possibility that it wouldn't work out, but I still feel sad about it. I would have enjoyed showing them around the Possum Kingdom and introducing them to all our new friends.
For now, we've decided that we'll make a movie of the house and area and send it to them on DVD. It won't be quite the same, but at least they'll get to see a bit more of our new life.
Perhaps I still need to eat a bit of chocolate to help myself feel better!
