I have been seriously remiss in my blogging this past week, and I have no excuse other than sometimes life gets in the way!

'Tis the season to be BUSY, and that has never been as true for us as it has been since living here. In fact, back in our pre-Chalabre life, we often were less busy during the holidays, because most of our friends were, themselves, so busy, that we could never get together. Here, the pace of life makes socializing something that we all enjoy doing.

As an example, last week on Wednesday I had my first two pre-teen students for English (not a great success, more another time), then my wonderful Mireille came at night for her lesson. She's my star pupil and I'm extremely proud of her. She was a great antidote for the less-than-stellar experience of the "little ones."

Thursday, we had lunch with Cathy and her lovely mom, Katey. That was an unexpected treat as they stopped by just to say hello, and I insisted that they hang on for lunch.

Later that afternoon, we drove over to Rivel and had a lovely evening of tarot and dinner with Maggie-the-human and Martin, who have returned to us at last! They are planning on being here all winter and I couldn't be more delighted at the prospect of many such evenings.

The next day, Friday, we were invited for dinner and yet MORE tarot with Peter and Margaret in West Chalabre. Their tarot skills are coming along, and I think eventually they may even be able to beat us. Of course, we didn't know then that Margaret was a law-breaker! We only found out on Sunday that she'd been "done" for the heinous crime of going 2km/h over the speed limit on their way back from an afternoon in Toulouse! Bad, Margaret, bad! I may have to start hiding the silver. (Margaret! If you read this, I hope you know that I'm only "funning" you!!)

Saturday, we had been meant to have our part time neighbors, Yves and Hélene, over for dinner. Hélene called to explain that Yves' brother, Jean-Louis and his wife were coming to help trim trees in the garden, and that they couldn't leave them, quite clearly. As it turned out though, we went to their place for drinks instead, then we joined them ALL for dinner at their place. Another great evening.

Finally, today, we had a six-hour lunch with friends Hazel and John from the Aux Fontaines B&B, Nathalie and Christian (whom I've written about many times) and their daughter Elise, and Bernard & Bernadette -- the "BBs"-- who own our local newstand. All I can say is that much amazing food and great wine was consumed and JM and I felt like we were rolling back down the street. We may not need to eat for several more days.

So, as you can see, sometimes, fitting in actual WORK can become a challenge. I will try to be better.

Ciao for now!
