Okay, if I were the kind of person who took things personally, I would be feeling quite put upon by today’s weather!

I looked out the window to see the sun shining. I would decide it was the perfect moment to take Maggie for a walk or head out to the post office or the Huit à 8 to pick up a few things. I’d grab my coat, put on my boots, open the door and as soon as I stepped outside, it would start to snow! I really started to feel traumatized.

Still, it really IS beginning to look a lot like Christmas. At one point, I went up the street to make an appointment with our Vivianne to have my hair done. When I turned back to come home, there was such an amazing quality to the light that I was sorry there was no way to capture it. The sky was a steely-silver, and the light shined on the houses in such a way that they all looked as if they had been covered in silver. Even the leaves that still cling desperately to the plane trees had a silver hue to them. It was truly quite a stunning sight. But, that’s one place where a digital camera falls flat. It simply is not as good at capturing that kind of thing as a film camera.

I did manage to track down both snow tires and long underwear today, both of them from online sources and both to be delivered either tomorrow or Thursday. For some reason, the last few times that I tried to go to www.damart.fr, I was instead redirected to their U.S. website, which isn’t up and running at the moment. Today, I got to the right place at last.

Maybe I should see if they sell doggie long johns. Poor Maggie looked decidedly cold when we were out this morning and she was covered in melting snow. My friends at the hairdressers suggested I knit her something. It took me forever to stop laughing at that one. Knitting and I are not close companions.

I may try ordering her something online and hope that I like it and it fits when it gets here. Otherwise, I think I will look at my own sweaters and see if there’s not something I’m willing to sacrifice in the name of a happy, warm pet. I just need to make sure she looks so stylish that no one laughs at us when we’re out walking!

Ciao for now!
